Congratulations to Julie Conzemius, who was recently recognized by the Mahtomedi School Board for outstanding leadership at Mahtomedi Public Schools. The Mahtomedi School Board awards recognize the leadership and contributions staff members across our district are making to advance our strategic plan.
At Mahtomedi Middle School (MMS), Ms. Conzemius teaches Choir 6-8, Exploring Music 6, and is the Middle School Musical Director. She is in her 28th year teaching music, and she has been the theatre director at MMS since 2000.
Ms. Ann Garry, Mahtomedi Education Association President and Spanish teacher at Mahtomedi High School, gave the award presentation and shared this with the Board, “What impresses me most about Julie is the relationships she forms with kids and the community that she creates as a classroom teacher and in theater.”
Ms. Garry also shared this quote from Mr. Chad Garrels, “Julie has built a vibrant community where every student's voice is literally and figuratively nurtured. What sets Julie apart is her specialized, empathetic work helping students navigate their changing singing voices while ensuring her classroom remains a safe, inclusive haven for all. Her leadership in theatrical productions has been paramount, fostering a lifelong love for the arts and allowing students to truly shine on stage. Julie is not just a choir director; she is a pillar of our district who transforms the middle school experience into a journey of self-discovery and musical achievement."
