HOF 2025

Congratulations to Justin Gominsky (Class of 2008), Brent Borgen (Class of 2003), and the 1982 Girls Gymnastics Team.

The 2025 Mahtomedi High School Athletic (MHS) Hall of Fame honorees were recognized on August 29. The Mahtomedi High School Athletic Hall of Fame honors former athletes, former coaches, and community members who have displayed outstanding athletic abilities or have made exceptional contributions to our school district’s athletic programs. 

Meet the Honorees:
Justin Gominsky (Class of 2008)
Baseball: 3-time All-Conference, two-time All-State, and Lion’s Club All-Star selection. Played at the University of Minnesota, earning Big 10 All-Freshman and All-American First Team honors. Drafted by the Houston Astros in 2011, later recognized as a New York-Penn League All-Star and he earned the Gold Glove and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the minors. Football: two-time honoree for both All-Conference and All-State, and holder of all-time MHS records for receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. In addition, Justin founded the Minnesota Icemen Baseball Club after his MLB career.

Brent Borgen (Class of 2003)
Hockey: Four-year varsity starter, two-time captain, three-time All-Conference and All-State (plus honorable mention as a sophomore). He was named First Team All-Metro and Second Team All-Metro and a Mr. Hockey finalist. Holds MHS all-time records in goals and points as well as second for assists. In 2003, led the Metro in scoring and finished top three in the State. In college, Brent played at the University of Minnesota and St. Cloud State, earning WCHA Scholar-Athlete recognition. Member of a WCHA championship team and 2005 Frozen Four participant. Brent is an active booster president, coach, and fundraiser for Mahtomedi Hockey.

1982 Girls Gymnastics Team

The 1982 Girls Gymnastics team was the first Mahtomedi team to win a Minnesota State High School League Championship. Their season highlights include an undefeated record (10-0), a school record team score of 134.55, winning Tri-Metro Conference and Section 4A titles, and defeating defending champions Hopkins Blake to capture the Class A State title. The honorees include Coach Maxine (Carlson) Schneider, Bridget (Conway) Johnson, Shelley Mitchell, Laura (Jervis) Jonsrud, Coach Debbie Driscoll, Amy (Paulson) Lorentz, Mary (Mitchell) Cromer, Heidi (Wahlstrom) Brown, Annetta (Tessier) Albrecht, Laura Davis, and Cindy DeLaHunt.
