Special Education Services

Welcome to the Special Education webpage for Mahtomedi Public Schools.

Mahtomedi School District’s Special Education Program is a comprehensive program dedicated to supporting individuals from birth to age 22 with diverse learning needs and abilities. Tailored to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment, our program focuses on providing individualized education and support services for students with identified disabilities.

From early intervention for infants and toddlers to specialized educational plans for preschoolers, elementary, secondary, and transition-age students, our program offers a continuum of services. This includes Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for children and families age birth-three to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students ages 3-22.  These plans provide access to specially designed instruction, therapies such as speech, occupational, and physical therapy, as well as assistive technologies.

We emphasize collaborative efforts between educators, support staff, parents, and the broader community to create an inclusive learning environment. Our goal is to prepare students with disabilities to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while supporting successful transitions throughout their school career and beyond.
