Mahtomedi Girls Soccer

The Mahtomedi Girls Soccer team secured its 12th State Championship in 2025 and was recently recognized and honored by the Mahtomedi City Council.

Harlow Berger (2026), Jacque Worden (2026), Ali Rippentrop (2026), Kayla Poirier (2026), Isabel Vipond (2026), and Anneliese Ulschmid (2027) accepted the recognition on behalf of the team. The students had the opportunity to share comments with the Council and spoke about their experience, noting that despite being a young team, they came together quickly and connected. They highlighted how they adapted to challenges, persevered through setbacks, and demonstrated consistent hard work.

Coach Dave Wald, who has led the team since 1995, noted that 11 athletes graduated last year, including five All-State players and three Division 1 athletes. Despite graduating their entire defensive line, the team recorded 13 shutouts, demonstrating their hard work and resiliency.  Coach Wald shared, “I want to thank this community for supporting athletics and academics, and especially young women, and what they have accomplished.

Superintendent Duffrin thanked the City Council for recognizing Mahtomedi students, noting that the recognition reflects the Council’s commitment to and connection with Mahtomedi Public Schools. The Council’s proclamation read, “The City Council of the City of Mahtomedi hereby congratulates the Mahtomedi High School Girls Soccer Team on their 2025 Minnesota Class AA State Championship victory and commends them for their hard work, sportsmanship, and continued tradition of excellence. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Mahtomedi extends its heartfelt appreciation to the coaches, families, and school staff who supported the team throughout their championship season.”

Thank you to Mayor Brainerd, the Mahtomedi City Council, the City of Mahtomedi, and our community for this special honor and recognition!
