  • Changes in learning models impacted the frequency and duration of typical instruction
  • Teacher teams determined priority standards (topics, skills, and strategies critical to current and future learning)
  • Teacher teams refined daily lessons to focus on priority standards and acknowledge spiraling standards (concepts that recur annually with increasing depth and complexity)

  • Typical assessments (including FastBridge aReading, aMath, NWEA/ MAP) helped to identify students in need of additional grade level skill and concept development in the areas of reading and math.
  • Increased invitations for students to participate in summer programming
  • Increased instructional time (both daily time and weeks of duration) of summer programming
  • Increased the number of staff to allow more personalized instruction and support
  • Offered breakfast and transportation to reduce barriers to participate in summer programming
  • Summer programming offered increased attention to important staff-student and student-student relationships

  • Fall screener assessments (including aReading, aMath, NWEA/ MAP)
  • Classroom formative assessments (including quizzes, exit tickets, and daily work check-ins)
  • Vertical team collaboration to understand skills and concepts that may need additional instruction
  • Purposeful use of What I Need (WIN) time, Zephyr time, and Flex Time to provide additional instruction and support for skill and concept development
  • Changes to daily lessons to provide instruction focused on the needs of students in the class.
  • Continued use of priority standards
  • Review of prior-year standards or concepts that provide an important foundation for the current year’s learning
  • Increased attention on important staff-student and student-student relationships
  • Access to additional academic support
  • Improvement of early identification of academic
